Kingdom of Tonga: A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Government of the Kingdom of Tonga and Korea Nazarene University (KNU) has been signed, that will potentially pave the way to improving the education and training of children with disabilities in Tonga.

KNU is a leader throughout the Pacific Rim for educating students with disabilities.

In May, Tongan officials from this island nation along with In-Kwon Kim, the Director of the Nazarene Mango Tree Respite Center, traveled to Korea to meet with KNU President Dr. Shin, in order to formalize the MOU.

KNU has the reputation of being the leading university in the Pacific Rim with regard to rehabilitation welfare and increasing practical skills for students with disabilities.  This is accomplished through the integration of the educational environment with both disabled and non-disabled students.

The visit to Korea was also an opportunity for In-Kwon Kim, and his wife, Jeong-Seok, to participate in special intensive courses at Seoul Rehabilitation Hospital.

These courses,  which included lectures and practical exercises, focused on rehabilitative therapy for children with disabilities.

The Kims are excited to return to Tonga and share with the Tongan staff and volunteers all that they have learned through the special training they have received.

The Melanesia South Pacific Field on the Asia-Pacific Region celebrate that each week,  well over 100 families, who have children with disabilities, are deeply and positively touched by Christ through the Mango Tree Respite Center in the Kingdom of Tonga.

For over fifteen years,  this has been another powerful and growing ministry of the International Church of the Nazarene with its emphasis on global missions!
