Please pray for people in Christchurch, New Zealand, who were shaken by a series of five earthquakes ranging from 4.0 to 5.9 on Friday morning, Dec. 23. District Superintendent Dr. Neville Bartle reports that the mudflow caused by "liquefaction" is very similar to what occurred after the June earthquake. Cracks in the back wall of the Nazarene church in Christchurch are now more pronounced as a result of these recent quakes. Bartle writes: "Obviously people are very shaken and wonder what the future holds for the city. Please pray for the people there and for God's peace comfort and strength." Pray that the celebration of the birth of Emmanuel, "God with Us", will be a great encouragement to the residents of Christchurch. |
